The Broadband Team is responsible for implementing the Alberta Broadband Strategy that extends high-speed broadband to rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. A significant portion of the Strategy will be realized through the execution of the Universal Broadband Fund and the associated Alberta-Canada partnership as well as the Alberta Broadband Fund. Reporting to the Broadband Program Lead, the Broadband Analyst is responsible for providing direct and indirect support for the broadband programs within Technology and Innovation. Broadband programs are often complex and highly visible to industry, the public and other orders of government as well as have significant budgets associated to them. The successful incumbent will play a role in shaping broadband programs aligned with strategic objectives. This involves making contributions to and assuming responsibility for work associated with the creation and implementation of new or revised broadband programs. The Broadband Analyst will be responsible for a portfolio of broadband program projects. You will utilize your analytical abilities and understanding of business and stakeholder viewpoints to recognize challenges, risks, opportunities, and unforeseen outcomes during the development of program options/alternatives. You will help to formulate and influence recommendations for optimal solutions to assist in advancing the Alberta Broadband Strategy. Your ability to communicate effectively and experience collaborating with various stakeholder groups, coupled with your proactive approach to problem-solving, play a crucial role in navigating the dynamic demands of this fast-paced work environment. You will use your strong writing skills in preparing briefing notes, responding to action requests, and drafting reports and presentations. Qualifications Requirements : University graduation in a related field such as Business Administration, Information Technology, Social Sciences, Telecommunication. 2years of related experience in contract management, vendor relations management, network engineering. Cover Letter Equivalencies : Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education. Assets : Certification or a Diploma in Project Management, Project Coordination or Agile certifications. Certification or a Diploma in Business Analysis, process engineering. Experience in negotiation and mediation. Experience in creating briefing materials (Briefing Notes, telephone action requests, letters, memos, etc.). Experience applying research methods to support program design, briefings, ARs, policy, etc. Understanding of broadband technologies, issues, and opportunities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Experience in proposal reviews from multiple perspectives: technical, financial, social, community, etc. Experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) systems like QGIS, ESRI etc. Notes Term of Employment : There are two Permanent full-time positions across Alberta. Hours of Work : 36.25 hours per week/ Monday – Friday Location : Edmonton. This position may be eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
