Meeting and Events – Project Manager Reports To Meetings & Events Manager Job Summary The Meeting and Events – Project Manager, under the direction of the Meetings & Events Director, will primarily be responsible to lead project management strategies and actions to ensure effective milestone planning and timely completion of deliverables. This position will participate in contract negotiations and maintain ongoing relationships with a variety of vendors. This role will also strive to advance your knowledge, skills, and abilities and consistently share these with others. The Meeting and Events – Project Manager must have three years of related experience and ability to analyze and interpret the needs of customers and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions when required. Competencies Project Management – Working independently to accurately estimate duration and level of difficulty of tasks and projects. Sets out goals, objectives, and work plans to complete tasks and projects. Determines where work needs to be delegated. Problem Solving - Able to break down a situation into smaller pieces to identify key issues and figure out cause and effect relationships in order to solve. Use logic and analytical methods to come to realistic solution. Teamwork - Works cooperatively and effectively with others to reach a common goal. Participates actively in group activities fostering a team environment. Accountability - Takes ownership of personal workload, as well as the workload of employees under his/her direction. Job Duties Independently manages and implements successful custom meeting/events and speaker bureaus for multiple clients. Oversee project management to ensure effective milestone planning and timely completion of deliverables Reconcile expense statements and project budgets Prepare travel schedules, book travel arrangements, and make reservations for attendants and presenters Prepare, review, and print various forms of correspondence such as invoices, presentations, publications, expenses and reports Participate in contract negotiations and maintain ongoing relationships with a variety of vendors Job Requirements College diploma or University degree in related field Three years of related event planning experience in veterinary or medical events Strong working knowledge of project management principles, methods, practices, and techniques Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of customers and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Expert level skills in Microsoft office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands Ability to work individually as well as part of a team Demonstrated time management skills Experience with project management software systems High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment Work Conditions Working in an office environment Extended periods of sitting Operation of desktop computer and peripherals Interaction with customers/clients, and the public at large 20% travel may be required Occasional overtime Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Benefits: Casual dress Dental care Disability insurance Employee assistance program Extended health care Flexible schedule Life insurance On-site parking Paid time off RRSP match Tuition reimbursement Vision care Wellness program Work from home Schedule: Monday to Friday Experience: Corporate Meeting and Event Planning: 3 years (preferred) Work Location: Hybrid remote in Guelph, ON N1H 7K9
