The Opportunity: As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Mental Health Clinician provides a range of mental health services to children, youth and their families within a First Nations cultural and socioeconomic setting. Therapy service areas may include: Trauma, Anger, Spirituality, Parenting, Abuse, Confusion, Stress, Grief, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Dissociation, Substance Abuse and Addiction issues.Interviews clients, prepares case histories and assesses problemsDevelop counseling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining themPrepares an agreed upon case plan with the client that contains goals for mental health issue modification/ amelioration and the behavioral change methods for achieving those goals.Develops a tailored approach to counseling and intervention methods through one, or a combination of individual psychotherapy, group therapy, couple’s therapy, family therapy, and personal enhancement interventions.Liaises with a multidisciplinary team of health and social service professionals to assist with case planning, assessment, treatment implementation, including follow-up and case management.Collaborates with other multidisciplinary team members and physicians to facilitate an inter-professional approach to standards of practice with a focus on promoting team-based care.Participates in ICT meetings; including; process, care planning and follow up, resource planning, standards while maximizing the scope of practice of ICT membersImplement and deliver counseling and intervention programsEvaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and client progress in resolving identified problems and movement towards defined goalsProvides community education and consultation to other professional groups regarding counseling services, issues and methodsDocuments work with clients and prepares reports in the electronic medical record (MOIS and/or Nucleus) to contribute to integrated care and assists with health planning of current and future health services.Go to www.csfs.org/jobs to view the full job description for this career opportunity.What You Will Bring To The Role Master’s Degree in Social Work, Educational Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or comparable degree with strong clinical skills Registered, or eligible to be registered, with their respective professional bodies Two years of related experience with responsibility for providing a range of community based mental health services.The Location: Burns Lake, a small community with big aspirations and determination is the economic hub for the Lakes District.
