Posting Period Open: January 5, 2024 Deadline: January 18, 2024 Non-Union Department Name Decision Support The purpose of this role is to leverage the utilization of data and analytics to facilitate informed decision-making and strategic planning while providing support to the BI manager and team. Reporting to Manager, Decision Support, the Business Intelligence Analyst plans, designs, develops, tests, and maintains business intelligence (BI) products to support LHSC's business intelligence platform, including tables, views, cubes, and report delivery and infrastructure. This requires communication skills to determine the customer's needs, extensive knowledge and experience in the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), very good knowledge of T-SQL, technical expertise to design and implement the solution while adhering to the SDLC, and precise attention to detail to test and validate the end product. The BI Analyst designs and implements expansions to existing products, creates new products as per high-level design documents, and troubleshoots technical and/or software problems related to the use of BI products and implements solutions. The Business Intelligence Analyst is a high-level technical expert and is also an effective collaborator and team member; capable of acting as team lead on projects, as well as mentoring less experienced staff. Their responsibilities include gathering, analyzing, and interpreting complex healthcare data from diverse sources to identify trends, enhance operational efficiency, process performance, and provide mentorship to new BI analysts and other team members. This role is essential in empowering hospital leadership with actionable insights, enhancing overall organizational performance, and delivering top-notch healthcare services through data-driven initiatives. Status: Regular Full-Time Rate of Pay: $39.92 per hour - $49.89 per hour Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week Qualifications What you bring: Successful completion of a 3 Year College Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering Structured Query Language (SQL) Certification preferred Minimum four (4) years recent, related job experience A minimum of 2 years of experience using Power BI for data analysis, visualization, and reporting Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for creating complex calculations and measures in Power BI Knowledge of data modeling concepts and experience with designing and developing data models in Power BI Proficiency in Python, with experience using machine learning libraries such as Scikit-Learn for model building and evaluation Demonstrated advanced technical and programming skills Demonstrated advanced understanding of relational databases, i.e. Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, MS*SQL, Interbase, and MS Access Advanced knowledge of Programming Languages: SQL (required), additional desirable: MDX, C#, Java and JSP Demonstrated advanced knowledge of productivity tools such as MS Excel, MS Word and Tableau Advanced experience with project management (milestones, outcomes and deliverables) Demonstrated advanced testing methodology Proficient knowledge of clinical process and nomenclature Demonstrated advanced experience in design, modeling and documentation in BI and data warehousing Advanced verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational and time management skills to effectively coordinate multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities Advanced attention to detail Ability to be flexible, adaptable and manage change effectively Commitment to excellent customer service Demonstrated ability to synthesize ideas and communicate complex concepts to audiences with or without technical expertise Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a working member of a team Ability to work well under pressure, with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s vision, purpose and values Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis Immunization Requirements: Before beginning employment at LHSC, all new hires will be required to: Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis; Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step); Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated For more information visit https://www.lhsc.on.ca/careers/health-review-requirements We are committed to providing a safe, healthy and inclusive work environment that inspires respect.
