Tax Manager
Job Description
As the Manager, US Tax you will manage and deliver on the organization’s US tax responsibilities including tax accounting, compliance, planning, and audit management. As the in-house US tax advisor, you will work closely with the tax team and the business advising on US income tax matters. Your Responsibilities: Prepare/approve IFRS tax provisions and note disclosures for US entities. Work with external financial auditors on quarterly and annual audits of the US tax provision. Manage US compliance process. Review and approval of corporate tax returns. Manage US cash tax payments. Preparation of US tax reconciliations. Maintain a strong and positive working relationship with US tax authorities. Manage US tax audits and provide advice to management concerning tax appeals and litigation. Establish productive relationships with the business to ensure informational requirements for US compliance are met. Provide tax information to the business including advising on government incentive programs. Monitor US tax legislative developments impacting the business and effectively communicate to stakeholders. Assist and engage in strategic tax planning and other initiatives as required. Execute a continuous improvement process to avoid compliance issues, reduce the company’s tax exposure and streamline audits. Your Skills: Solid and developing leadership skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Solid organizational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a team environment. Your Experience: Undergraduate degree with professional accounting designation (CPA, Canada or US), or LLB or master’s degree in tax. Enrollment in CPA Canada In-depth Tax Program or equivalent US or International tax program. At least 5 years relevant work experience. Strong knowledge of US tax laws and regulations. Strong research & analytical skills. Strong knowledge of IFRS tax accounting and tax compliance. Experience in tax accounting audits and government tax authority audits Experience using financial reporting and tax provision software. Experience in the energy business is significant asset.
