A quick summary of the role: We're looking for an experienced Systems Administrator. This is a full-time hybrid position, supporting all technical aspects of remote and hybrid users globally and within our office in Victoria, B.C. You will ensure reliability, security, and efficiency of our server infrastructure, network infrastructure, and for our remote workforce. The ideal candidate will have the skills and expertise to deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor all virtual and physical infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations for Helm's servers, networks, and end user systems. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving network issues, implementing security measures, proactively optimizing network performance, server configurations and working in collaboration with various stakeholders across the organization. This role is open to candidates who can reliably commute to our office location in Victoria, B.C (minimum 1 day/ week). We'd love to chat if you: Have a bachelor’s degree in software IT desired; Engineering; or equivalent Have at least 5 years of prior experience in a technical system admin or networking admin position Have strong understanding of network and server deployment and maintenance Have knowledge of Microsoft Windows Servers, Networks and Desktops, and Mac OS Have experience providing user support for PC and Mac desktops as well as iOS and Android devices Have hands on experience with back up technologies, business continuity and disaster recovery procedures Have working knowledge of Microsoft Azure or AWS Have experience working with Mobile device management solution such as Microsoft Intune Have understanding of AD, TCP/IP, Security policies, DHCP, DNS and VPN Are willing to take occasional support calls at night or on holidays Have strong working knowledge of MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills Are able to work and support end users in a remote and virtual environment spanning across multiple time zones globally Who are you (soft skills): Initiative-taking, enthusiastic, and hard working with the ability to perform at a fast pace with minimal supervision. Able to work independently and complete tasks with high quality, but unafraid to seek out assistance when required. How you will be spending your days: Team of 1 providing all levels of IT Infrastructure and user support Being the first point of contact for all IT related stuff for Users and Vendor management Onboard new employees (local and remote) to network, software systems, and security policies to ensure accurate access to corporate resources Proactively monitor, manage, maintain and ensuring reliability of Servers, Networks and Cloud Infrastructure Monitor and Respond to Trouble-Tickets raised in Service Desk queue for deskside and infrastructure service within SLA Proactively undertake and implement security procedures and ensure associated policies are enforced Analyze and Monitor the IT Infrastructure and ensure it is secured and updated against all known vulnerabilities Implement, enforce and maintain Governance, Risk and compliance policies Perform routinely Backups of critical servers, networks and business applications Effectively manage Active Directory and SaaS platforms like Microsoft 365, Azure, SharePoint etc. Collaborate with other team members (R & D, DevOps) to ensure smooth integration between on-premise and cloud environments Procure, maintain and support office hardware including laptop (Mac & PC), office printers, mobiles etc. Troubleshoot software and hardware including laptops, printers, monitors, and other peripherals Research, recommend, and implement new technologies for continuous improvement Be able to setup and deploy IT infrastructure effectively while keeping costs affordable Clearly document technical procedures, known-issues database and IT How-tos Ensure redundant hardware is available and ready for instant deployment where required to support critical business functions Ensure all employees are properly equipped with the hardware and software properly configured to perform their function Work on other projects as required Support Helm’s culture of teamwork, approachability, accountability and determination and participate in company events, when possible It is mandatory for the Systems Administrator to possess flexibility in their work schedule to coordinate with other schedules and willingness to work beyond core business hours and be on call, as necessary, to minimize interruption during planned and unplanned network/system modifications and collaborate with other department divisions, as necessary, as to ensure success in this position.
