Position OverviewThe Financial Operations team in Finance is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Senior Financial Analyst.Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Operations, this position provides expertise in the review and assessment of financial operations accounting transactions to ensure compliance with supporting agreements, as well as with university policies and external reporting standards. This role plays a key collaborative role in the provision of integrative expertise with regards to facilitating a cross functional understanding of transactional impacts and is expected to proactively develop and maintain collaborative, productive, problem-solving working relationships with colleagues, staff, and management.Position DescriptionSummary of Key Responsibilities:Compliance ReviewProvide credible expert advice, consultation, education and support to University staffDocument business processes and identify mitigating controlsIdentify potential process gaps and opportunities for improvementAccounts Receivable:Manage deposit and invoice transactions to ensure proper revenue recognitionEnsure invoice and deposit submissions are compliant with public sector accounting standards, university guidelines, and external agency contractsReview and interpret external agency contracts and guidelinesAdvise regarding transaction propriety and facilitate issue resolutionAccounts Payable/Payroll:Manage contractor expense submissions for compliance with the University Travel and Expense handbook and Employee-Contractor relationship guidelinesAdvise regarding transaction propriety and facilitate issue resolutionPosition Management:Manage the creation, activation, and/or modification of positions and position- related data to ensure data integrity and budget controlsAvise and collaborate to provide issue management support with regards to the integration of position funding, budget, and human resource specific data to maintain compliance with position management principles and guidelinesFinancial Operations AccountingProvide as required accounting support for the Financial Operations portfolioCoordinate and audit the semi-monthly payroll accounting transaction upload into PeopleSoft General Ledger, and facilitate resolution of system and/or posting issuesPrepare monthly account reconciliations and/or month-end accrual journal entries and facilitate resolution of outstanding/reconciling itemsProcess Improvement and Decision SupportResearch, review, advise and recommend regarding resolution of unique issues and projects as they relate to financial operations accounting transactions and compliance review activitiesRemain current on factors that would initiate change, such as University policies and proceduresAssess current procedures and processes for continuous improvement opportunitiesReview, recommend, and implement required updates to procedures, reporting, and compliance assessment standardsRespond to stakeholder requests for information and/or issue mitigation and resolutionProvide operational expertise to the Financial Operations portfolio on accounting related issuesQualifications / Requirements:Completion of a Professional Accounting designation (CPA) with related degreeExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential for productive and collegial working relationships as well as in the exercise of tact and diplomacy with sensitive issuesSignificant work experience in various accounting and analyst functionsExperience with business analysis and able to provide recommendations and implementation supportProficient to expert level use of computer software applications including Excel, PeopleSoft (navigation and query), data warehousing and other business intelligence query toolsApplication Deadline: January 5, 2024We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
