OverviewBetaKit is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Editor to join our growing nationwideeditorial team. The successful candidate will have a passion for business news and a provenability to find and report breaking news stories. In addition to leading and supporting thedevelopment of in-depth and investigative features, they will also demonstrate strong writingskills across a variety of formats (e.g. web, social, newsletters). This full-time role comeswith benefits and the opportunity to shape the editorial standards of Canada's leadingstartup and technology publication.ResponsibilitiesOrganize and manage BetaKit’s regular news coverage, including story identificationand generation, team assignment, copy and editorial review, and digital publication.Research and report on original content, including breaking news, briefs, events,quarterly reports, investigative work, and features.Source and coordinate with new freelance writing talent for BetaKit in growingregions, content types, and topics.Develop and maintain reliable sources with strategic ecosystem players andpartners.Represent BetaKit in various public formats, including panels, podcasts, and socialmedia.Monitor local, national, and global news developments on an ongoing basis.Uphold and enforce BetaKit’s high editorial standards.QualificationsEducation: Journalism/Communications preferred.Experience: Must have newsroom and business journalism experience.Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication; ability to work under tightdeadlines; ability to edit and improve submitted written work on short notice.Traits: Passion for business journalism; interest in independent media; adept in ahigh-pressure environment.Knowledge: Familiarity with CP Stylebook, Caps and Spelling, content and graphiceditors is beneficial.About BetaKitBetaKit is the independent publication of record for Canadian startup and technology news,providing trusted and accessible business journalism since 2012.
