TITLE: Project Coordinator(Conservation Outreach)
REPORTS TO: Program Director
LOCATION: Fredericton (would consider remote within NB)

JOB OVERVIEW:

Nature NB connects people with nature. We support a diverse network of nature-lovers across the province, providing opportunities for New Brunswickers of all ages, and from all regions and backgrounds, to discover, learn about, and share nature with each other. We travel throughout the province, teaching kids about nature in their schoolyards and neighbourhoods, advocate for species at risk through local outreach, and engage volunteers in monitoring and protecting the species and landscapes they love.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering engaging community science and conservation programs for both youth and adults. Your role will involve supporting and coordinating volunteers, collaborating with partner organizations, conducting field work, and contributing to grant writing and project development.

Examples of projects this position may coordinate or collaborate on include: protected natural areas stewardship, supporting species at-risk conservation on farmland, school programming, species at-risk outreach to community partners, coordinating national-scale community science initiatives, supporting nature clubs, and monitoring Important Bird & Biodiversity areas.

This is a permanent, full-time position with some weekend and evening work required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver community science and conservation-related programs and workshops to youth and adults ;
  • Coordination and support of volunteers;
  • Communicate and collaborate with partner organizations and volunteers;
  • Assist with grant writing & project development;
  • Assisting in planning events and activities to engage our supporters, manage event logistics, and promote events to the public;
  • Conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing internal reports for Nature NB;
  • Participating in training and relevant workshops related to the position to expand personal and professional knowledge;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

Requirements:

  • University degree or college degree with a biology, environmental studies/science, public relations, communications or equivalent degree;
  • Experience with conservation outreach to adults and youth;
  • Knowledge of New Brunswick flora & fauna;
  • Exemplary and proven organization, planning, and communication (written and oral), and project management skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including experience and proven results in working tactfully with colleagues, and ability and experience in easily communicating with a wide range of people in public and private sectors;
  • Ability to develop and maintain a dynamic work plan, and meet fixed deadlines for projects spanning 1+ years;
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a project team;
  • Familiarity with common computer software (Microsoft Office Suite);
  • Written and spoken fluency in English;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector.

Assets:

  • Written and spoken fluency in French;
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with protected areas stewardship, particularly in New Brunswick
  • Experience working in the NB ENGO sector;
  • Knowledge of and/or experience working with Indigenous/First Nation communities;
  • Experience in event planning;
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
  • Experience with graphic design software/programs;
  • First Aid certification;

STARTING SALARY AND BENEFITS

$42,000/ year

32hr work-week, personal days, paid vacation, medical and dental benefits
