Senior Purchasing Agent As a Senior Purchasing Agent, you'll be at the helm of acquiring and delivering goods and services that fuel our success. The City’s Procurement Branch is involved in all aspects of the City: from hiring contractors, buying a multitude of products and services, helping maintain the City’s roads and infrastructure. The City buys and needs it all. Your strategic mindset and competitive procurement expertise will drive our procurement operations to excellence. Proactively collaborate with internal clients to forecast demand, assess inventory levels, and identify organizational needs. Acquire goods, materials, professional services, and contractual services for various civic departments and related agencies. Evaluate submissions for compliance, compare prices and specifications, and consult with legal on noncompliance risks. Prepare legally binding contracts, enforce active contracts, and resolve conflicts or miscommunications with vendors and clients. Select the most appropriate procurement approach, whether RFQ, RFP, tender, or other competitive methods. Develop public competitive opportunities, evaluate bids, and consult with clients to ensure optimal outcomes. Required Education & Experience Completion of college diploma or university degree Supply Management Training Program designation or Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) designation ) designation from the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) Class 5 driver’s licence Must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Supply Chain Canada and/or the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council Must maintain the Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) designation or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation (if obtained) through continuous education credits. Greater than five years of previous and on-the-job purchasing experience Hourly Salary: $37.77 - $48.68 Annual Salary: $72,012 - $92,814 Purchasing Agent As a Purchasing Agent, you will be the driving force behind the acquisition and delivery of goods and services that power our organization to new heights. Operating within a delegated purchasing authority your role is not just a job – it’s an adventure in procurement excellence. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of duties, including sourcing top-notch materials, managing contracts, and collaborating with internal clients to forecast demand. Acting as the first point of contact for procurement-related issues, you will ensure adherence to purchasing policies and procedures, and enforcing active contracts. Client concerns? Your expertise in selecting appropriate procurement approaches, evaluating submissions, and conducting market research will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our procurement processes. Collaborate with internal clients to forecast demand and evaluate inventory levels. Acquire goods, materials, and services in line with purchasing practices, policies, and procedures. Provide purchase authorization within delegated limits, selecting appropriate procurement approaches (RFQ, RFP, tender, and other competitive methods). Develop and market competitive opportunities for acquiring goods and services. Ensure supplier commitments are met and address client department concerns swiftly. Prepare contracts (including Purchase Orders and Blanket Purchase Agreements), and resolve conflicts or miscommunications with vendors and clients. Source potential suppliers, maintain vendor tables and conduct expediter duties to ensure timely delivery. Required Education & Experience Completion of college diploma or university degree 4 modules on Strategic Supply Chain Management knowledge toward the Supply Chain Management Professional Designation ( SCMP) Program or a Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) designation from the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) Class 5 driver’s licence Must be registered or eligible for registration with Supply Chain Canada and/or the Universal Public Procurement Certification Council (UPPCC) Membership Must maintain the Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) designation (if obtained) Minimum of three years of previous and on-the-job purchasing experience Hourly Salary: $29.98 - $38.72 Annual Salary: $57,160 - $73,824 Purchasing Clerk As a Purchasing Clerk, you will be a pivotal force in our dynamic centralized purchasing and procreant engine. Your role is the mastermind behind maintaining databases that keep our operations running smoothly. Vendor research? That’s your playground and your documents are crafted with a touch of brilliance. You’ll be at the forefront of our P-card program. Your eye for detail is the secret sauce that ensures our process is epic and seamless. Maintain the authorization database for delegated purchasing authority limits. Conduct vendor/commodity and service research, updating relevant tables. Monitor and maintain the branch email account, receive and confirm bids from potential vendors, and forward documents to senior purchasing staff. Process P-card program applications, monitor transactions, and compile statistics. Monitor corporate supplies/service contracts and verify/release invoices on hold. Close out purchase orders and blanket order releases, and manage requisition entries. Assist low dollar purchase orders and respond to purchasing inquiries from the public and internal clients. Maintain filing systems in accordance with corporate records management policies. Input, validate, and generate reports and lists from various programs and applications.
