The perfect place to live and work, combining the tranquility of a small community with an unrivaled love for the great outdoors.About The RoleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for an Operations Supervisor to oversee and optimize the personnel, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations, within the Reduction Department, where the aluminum reduction process, called “smelting”, occurs. The smelting process dissolves alumina in a cryolite bath within carbon-lined cells called pots. By passing a strong electric current through the bath, this process separates aluminum metal from the chemical solution, allowing the metal to be siphoned off.This role is a great opportunity for an engaging and adaptable leader to join a dynamic environment where they can leverage their leadership skills, drive improvements, and foster both professional growth and impactful contributions to the broader site.Leading on the frontline is one of the most important jobs in our business and comes with a huge amount of responsibility. Every day our leaders grow, while our rosters are designed to help you live the lifestyle that is right for you and your family.Reporting to the Reduction Operations Superintendent, and working a rotating day/night roster of 12-hour shifts, you will beAdhering to and promoting Rio Tinto's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards while actively engaging in our culture of care, courage, and curiosity.Engaging in continuous improvement of standards, policies, and procedures while identifying and driving safety and efficiency enhancements within relevant teams and areasCommunicating and coordinating with peers the appropriate operating conditions, expectations, and targets for efficient shift change/hand overIdentifying areas where improvement to safety performance is necessary and initiating this change within the appropriate teams and areas.Ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood and setting performance targets to encourage the necessary/desired behavioursTaking ownership over efficient/effective problem solving, decision making, and action at the right levelsParticipating in the continuous improvement of standards, policies, and proceduresNote Fly-in-fly-out arrangements are not offered. Relocation assistance is provided, if applicable.What You’ll BringA commitment to the safety of yourself and your teamHigh school diploma or equivalentAt minimum of a valid B.C.
