Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
- To holistically coordinate the care of each patient, incorporating the nursing profession's values of knowledge, theory, and practice.
- To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the needs of patients and significant others in the delivery of care and collaborate with all members of the interdisciplinary team in this approach.
- Attends all cardiac arrests and Advanced Care Teams within the facility once qualifications are met.
- Ambulance transfer duty provided for patients as required once qualifications are met.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse - actively registered in New Brunswick, or eligible for such registration
- Successful completion of BLS and recertified yearly
- Preferred to have a minimum one (1) year of experience in a critical care area or willingness to complete the Critical Care Course upon hire
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis
- Ability to perform the duties of the position including rapidly responding to cardiac arrests and Advanced Care Teams called within the facility.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis with good work record
- Written and spoken competence in English is required
- Must be able to work rotating shifts as assigned, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays throughout the year
Be willing to obtain and maintain competency in the nursing care of patient requiring:
- BCMI (Basic Cardiac Monitoring Interpretation)
- BCLS and ACLS certification
- Basic ECG interpretation
- Administration of titrated and IV push cardio-active drugs.
- Hemodynamics and Defibrillation certifications and willingness to participate as a member of the Code Blue Team
- CVAD line - central venous access device
- PN - parental nutrition
- Care of the dying and family care
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or obtain within 1 year
- Other competencies as necessary

- Work in other patient care areas as requested by nursing supervisor/manager.
