Your future duties and responsibilities
1. Dynatrace Platform Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain the Dynatrace monitoring platform to ensure accurate and comprehensive monitoring of applications, services, and infrastructure components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement Dynatrace best practices and ensure alignment with monitoring objectives.
2. Monitoring Strategy:
- Develop and refine monitoring strategies, alerting thresholds, and anomaly detection rules to proactively identify performance issues and potential bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish monitoring baselines.
3. Incident Management:
- Respond to alerts generated by the Dynatrace platform, investigating and diagnosing performance issues and outages promptly.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to resolve incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
4. Performance Optimization:
- Analyze Dynatrace monitoring data to identify opportunities for performance optimization, scalability improvements, and resource utilization enhancements.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to implement recommendations and drive continuous improvement.
5. Reporting and Visualization:
- Create informative and insightful dashboards, reports, and visualizations using the Dynatrace platform to communicate performance metrics, trends, and insights to stakeholders.
- Assist in developing executive-level reports for management reviews and decision-making.
6. Capacity Planning:
- Leverage Dynatrace data to assist in capacity planning efforts, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated to support anticipated workloads.
7. Knowledge Sharing:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, sharing best practices, technical insights, and lessons learned related to Dynatrace administration.
- Contribute to internal knowledge base and documentation to facilitate effective knowledge transfer.
8. Stay Current with Industry Trends:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in monitoring, APM (Application Performance Monitoring), and related technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of best practices.
9. Learn and understand the various application architectures and develop supportable automation processes. Develop and maintain supporting documentation for all automated processes.
10. Coordinate and lead training and information sharing meetings with the rest of the system engineering team.
11. Oversee and support Production deployments during major release activities for components owned by the system engineering team.
12. Participate in Project meetings to gather build/deploy requirements.
13. Optionally, some on call or weekend support responsibilities.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Dynatrace Administrator, with 3-5 years of hands-on experience and an overall IT experience of 8+ years
- Solid understanding of application architectures, distributed systems, and cloud technologies.
- Clear understanding of Software Development Life Cycles
- Proficiency in configuring and managing the Dynatrace platform, including agents, custom metrics, synthetic monitoring, and auto-remediation.
- Experienced Middleware Engineer comfortable with Linux and tools such as Jboss, Tomcat, IBM WebSphere etc.
- Experienced DevOps Engineer comfortable with Cloudbees CI, Openshift / Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible and other common DevOps tools and technologies.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and integration tasks.
- Relevant certifications in Dynatrace administration and monitoring (e.g., Dynatrace Certified Professional) are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with other monitoring and observability tools is beneficial.
