Heavy Duty Mechanic wanted! Chu Cho Industries LP. (CCI) is a resource and heavy construction company that works primarily within the forestry, mining, and transportation industries. CCI specializes in timber harvesting, transportation, resource road construction, road maintenance and operation of resource camps. CCI is based in Mackenzie BC and most work is completed within the Mackenzie/Williston Lake area Position Summary: Heavy Duty Mechanics are required to perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy duty logging equipment primarily, including but not limited to graders, dozers, wiggle wagons, logging gear, as well as pickups and logging trucks as required. This position would primarily work remotely on a fixed rotation in the Mackenzie/Willison Lake area, however camp accommodations are provided.
Job Duties: Inspect, repair, and adjust heavy duty equipment and vehicles. Perform incidental welding operations on equipment Adhere to workplace and site safety policies, regulations, and compliances Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service Diagnosing malfunctions or problems using a computerized system or testing equipment to determine the root cause of any issues Perform mechanical repairs on equipment in a remote field situation when required Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics Accurate completion of work orders Repair cooling, and lubrication systems Repair mechanical transmissions, drivetrains and final drives Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc. Test repaired equipment for proper performance Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques Mechanical repair work as required Requirements: Red Seal or Journeyman (British Columbia) certification 3 years’ experience with heavy duty and logging equipment Experience with logging trucks is preferred Well-versed with emissions and DEF Experienced using a computerized diagnostic devices Possess a minimum valid class 5 drivers license Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics Ability to work independently in a busy environment Experience with routine maintenance operations Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing Able to work well under pressure Work Conditions: Remote camp accommodations 14/7 Travel to off-site locations as well as working in the shop are required Work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions Hazards associated with the trade Use of personal-protective and safety equipment Job Type: Full-time Salary: $45.00-$55.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40 per week Benefits: Company pension Dental care Employee assistance program Extended health care Vision care Flexible Language Requirement: French not required Schedule: 12 hour shift Overtime Supplemental pay types: Overtime pay Experience: Heavy Duty Mechanic: 3 years (preferred) Licence/Certification: Class 5 Drivers License (preferred) Red Seal or BC Trade Certificate (preferred) Work Location: In person
