Morrison Hershfield?۪s Transportation Division provides planning, design, and construction administration services for roadway, highway, transit/rail, bridge, and related projects. We are currently seeking a Manager, Maritimes Transportation Services that will complement our HI Structures Manager and team. The desired candidate will play an active role in supporting the development of the strategic and operational plans for the Transportation Services in the Maritime provinces. This position will be based out of Moncton, Fredericton, or Halifax.
Responsibilities
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary projects across offices and/or departments.
- Manage and control all aspects of assigned projects to achieve the scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives as agreed upon with clients.
- Ability to undertake design and contract administration for projects within the Maritime Provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia
- Able to undertake design and contract administration of New Brunswick Transportation Infrastructure projects
- Provide direction/mentor staff in the preparation of functional/preliminary designs/detailed designs in the use of the Microstation and OpenRoads Designer software in the production of engineered drawings and undertaking cost estimates and survey layout requirements.
- Producing both design, cross-sections and modelling surfaces for the various pavement structures.
- Able to prepare construction staging and traffic control plans for roadway and bridge projects
- Ability to undertake earth management requirements in the design process utilizing applicable software
- Ability to undertake roadside safety reviews and identify requirements
- Prepare correspondence, engineering reports, proposals, expressions of interest, specifications and meeting minutes.
- Base knowledge in traffic and collision analysis would be considered an asset
- Ability to lead a team of professionals, as well as liaison with clients and subconsultants.
- Provides quality management reviews by ensuring corporate policies are followed and documented
- Establish and maintain good working relationships and communication with clients, department managers, as well as internal and external leads.
- Support or lead proposals preparation efforts as may be needed with the objective of increasing backlog and market share.
- Contribute to the annual Business Plans including the setting of goals and budgeting.
- Contribute to the Strategic Account plans to expand market share with the strategically selected clients.
- Assist with development and mentoring of junior and immediate staff.
- Able to undertake or lead stakeholder consultation with respect to project requirements
- Understand and direct drainage and hydrology technical requirements for New Brunswick Transportation Infrastructure projects
- Provide guidance and input to staff on project work.
- Provide insightful and enthusiastic leadership creating a positive attitude and building supportive morale.
- Analyze business risks and provide supportive suggestions to Department Manager and Director of Roads, Highways Design
- Empower staff to grow the business and to improve individual skills.
- Encourage two-way communication within a group setting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor?۪s degree in Civil Engineering
- Ability to obtain P.Eng. licenses in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia is required
- Minimum 10+ years proven experience
- Excellent organization skills
- Detailed oriented, function in a multi-task environment, and follow complex instructions
- Progressive experience in the transportation engineering industry specifically related to functional/preliminary design/detailed design/contract administration of Transportation Infrastructure projects
- Proven ability as a project manager of multi-disciplinary project teams
- Outstanding communication, documentation and writing skills
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with clients and external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of provincial and federal regulation and approvals process
