Job Description

Assumption Life is seeking a qualified Life and Disability Claims Technician to join its Group Insurance team. The person in this position is responsible for performing various administrative tasks in order to provide support to case managers and rehabilitation counsellors. This person is also responsible for the payment of death and disability claims while respecting the established guidelines and process. This role is responsible for answering requests received by phone or email and forwarding them to the respective individuals.

This person must be able to manage several different administrative tasks while maintaining a good sense of prioritization.

Responsibilities

Generate life and disability insurance benefits by check or direct deposit
Open a new claim: add information from the completed form into the software,follow up on missing documents and correspond with clients, employers, doctorsand others
Provide exceptional customer service and empathetic approach: respond tocustomer inquiries by phone and email, follow up on pending claims, review andsend correspondence
Prepare various monthly reports for payment completion, rehabilitation,terminations, invoices, etc.
Participate in the continuous improvement process of the department's procedures
Complete, at the request of the supervisor, all other related administrative tasks

Qualifications

Bilingual - French and English - good written and oral communication;
Minimum of 2 years' experience in the related field or other;
A post-secondary degree in office administration or management or relevant field;
Ability to work under pressure and multi-task while maintaining an analytical mind;
Strong mathematical skills to be able to perform various calculations;
Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills, empathy and tact in order to establishpositive relationships with internal and external clients and service providers;
Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel) in order tobe able to perform daily work;
Knowledge of medical terminology/service as well as knowledge of groupinsurance products is an asset in order to have a good understanding of disabilityfiles.
