Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness, the junior disability management advisor is the main point of contact for the delivery of uncomplicated disability management services. The junior advisor demonstrates independence, judgment and initiative in determining and recommending action plans when handling disability requests and in recognizing when a case must be transferred to a disability management advisor or a human resources business partner. The incumbent works closely with the senior disability advisors to ensure that processes are applied consistently throughout Vitalit̩ Health Network. All these duties are performed in collaboration with the human resources team, managers, and stakeholders and agencies with a role to play in the work capacities of Vitalit̩ Health Network's employees. Other related duties may be added for the smooth operation of human resources.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a recognized postsecondary program in business administration, or equivalent postsecondary training and experience;
- At least two years' recent experience in the health sector, in human resources in a unionized setting, and/or in workplace disability management;
- Combination of training and experience deemed equivalent;
- Practical knowledge of New Brunswick's legislation, policies and procedures on worker's compensation, New Brunswick's Occupational Health and Safety Act, and New Brunswick's Human Rights Act;
- Completion of or registration for certification in disability management, or willingness to obtain same;
- Previous experience in human resources, benefits and compensation;
- Proper regard for confidentiality, ethical behaviour, and ability to effectively manage contentious situations and negotiate positive results;
- Keen organizational and communication skills, and demonstrated interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment with tight deadlines;
- Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills;
- Computer skills; proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite;
- Excellent communication, networking, interpersonal and coaching skills;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Physically able to perform assigned duties;
- Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
- Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitalit̩ Health Network;
