SISIP FINANCIAL

A full suite of financial solutions, tailored to the realities of our Canadian Armed Forces Members and their families, is offered through the SISIP Financial division within CFMWS. In addition to conventional insurance, investment and financial advice products and services, we pride ourselves in delivering preventative financial education and, where required, counselling, to support our members’ financial wellbeing. At SISIP, we keep our members at the center of everything we do. Our ultimate target is the right solution at the right time for our members, and our commission-free environment reinforces this. As a social enterprise, the profits we make help fund programs within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) community to benefit members and their families.

SISIP Financial services are available to Canadian Armed Forces Members both virtually and in-person. We have 23 offices located in CAF communities across Canada. Our national office is located in Ottawa.

THE ROLE

A SISIP Financial Planner (CFP or PFP) is a solution-oriented, strong communicator, who conducts deep discovery to understand client needs, develop relationships, customize needs based financial plans and provide supportive client action.

As a trusted advisor to the CAF Community, the Financial Planner provides expert knowledge, skills, and experience covering the core areas of financial planning including financial management, investment planning, tax planning, risk management and planning for education, retirement, and estates. The advisor has a solid understanding of the CAF Pension Plan and is able to provide in-depth analysis and client-centric recommendations on pension choices.

The Financial Planner gathers and analyses financial information, conducts deep discovery to understand client wants, needs and goals, and collaborates with other SISIP advisory specialists and external partners to develop and implement a tailored financial plan, with full client engagement.

Helping to ensure financial education and literacy among the CAF Community is a key mandate to help our clients build a financially secure future while making informed choices about their current needs. As such, the Financial Planner builds strong relationships with the CAF Community and internal/external partners and delivers financial education to inform, create awareness of SISIP Financial and the value we create for the CAF Community.

Qualifications

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related field AND several years of experience in financial services

Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

Registered to sell Mutual Funds (MFDA/AMF)

Required to hold or successfully complete the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP) OR Personal Financial Planner® (PFP) designation

Maintain registration and member in good standing status as CFP or PFP licensee of the Financial Planners Standards Counsel (FPSC)

Investment Funds Course (IFC)

Experience

In the provision of financial planning and investment services

In building relationships with clients

In organizing and delivering presentations

In providing investment advice

In preparing written financial plans

Competencies

Responsibilities

Develop personal financial plans including debt management, budgeting, education, investment, risk, retirement, estate, and related tax planning.

Develop a business plan, establish strategies, activities and goals that address client growth and retention, business and partner (COI) development in collaboration with management within the assigned territories, in accordance with SISIP’s business planning practices and standards.

Develop and deepen understanding of client goals, needs and overall financial situation through comprehensive client discovery, including data gathering and analysis, identification of options, development of client-centric recommendations, creation/implementation of financial action plan, and ongoing evaluation of revision of the plan with supportive client action.

Deliver presentations virtually or at Base/Wing/Unit (B/W/U), deepen partner relationships and develop and retain client relationships with CAF members and families.

Leverage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software in the day-to-day management of client relationships, team collaboration and business development activities.

Adhere to Know Your Customer (KYC) & Know Your Product (KYP) processes to develop an in-depth understanding of client’s needs and determine the appropriate investment asset mix aligned with life goals, income needs, return expectations and risk tolerance that fulfills client objectives.

Comply with regulatory, fiduciary, legal, security, confidentiality and ethical requirements for the protection of our members and clients.

This is an on-site position.

The selection process will be done virtually.

Relocation benefits will not be provided.
