Dillon?۪s
Communities and Environment technical group is looking for an
interim Field Inspector in
Iqaluit, Nunavut to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on an exciting project while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
This will be a fly in-fly out position, on a 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation. The anticipated work period is from March to December 2024.
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Project Coordination and Field Inspection
- Field observation of an ongoing infrastructure project, ensuring that work meets the requirements of contract drawings and specifications.
- Monitor and witness required testing activities to ensure that testing is being carried out at the prescribed frequency and that the results are acceptable.
- Maintain daily records of conditions, site activities and work progress.
- Perform construction administration services and coordination including preparing, reviewing, and tracking schedule, day-to-day liaison with contractors and consultants, attending job meetings, record keeping and reporting.
- Monitoring, and witnessing of required testing activities to ensure that testing is being carried out at the prescribed frequency and that the results meet the contractual requirements.
- Review construction documentation.
- Provide observation services during construction on all General Contractor activities and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship and compliance with the contractual requirements.
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
- A minimum of five years related to building electrical and or mechanical construction work experience.
- Comfortable with providing direction to the contractor onsite as needed through Dillon?۪s Construction Administrator/Project Manager, as required.
- Able to keep organized notes related to daily site activities, contractor equipment used and document with photos.
Experience
- Experience as a resident inspector on building/facility infrastructure projects.
- Working knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial standards and regulatory requirements.
- In depth knowledge of contract administration services and requirements.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills are essential.
