Savanna Drilling Canada is searching for a VFD Specialized - Journey-level Electrician to join our team. As a Journey-level Electrician at Savanna, you will be responsible for the troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance of electrical and control systems for our drilling rigs. This Full-Time, Permanent Position is based out of our Leduc, AB office. In business since 2001, Savanna Drilling offers an extensive fleet of modern drilling rigs and experienced personnel. From our extremely efficient and quick moving Hybrid and Top Drive Single (TDS) rigs to our Heavy and Ultra Heavy Doubles capable of drilling over 6000m (18,000ft) right up to our 1500HP Velox Triple rig platform with ratings of up to 750,000-pound hook loads, our fleet is capable of drilling virtually any onshore oil and natural gas well in the world safely and cost effectively. You will receive a competitive offer including: Competitive wage Immediate Health and Dental benefit coverage Amazing company match Employee Stock Savings Plan – 150% employer match Committed to employee advancement and education On-site fitness facility Other Employee perks (such as discounts with our retail partners) Core Responsibilities: Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, architectural drawings and electrical code specifications; Cut, thread, bend, assemble and install electrical conduit; Install, replace and maintain electrical distribution and control equipment; Troubleshoot, repair and maintain various VFD and PLC systems; Troubleshoot, repair and maintain Ross Hill and Woodward Generator controls; Troubleshooting and installing digital and analog instruments; Troubleshooting and testing motor encoders; Install and maintain fiber optic systems; Insulation testing of electrical motors; Consultation with rigs and their electrical concerns on a daily basis; Involvement with electrical upgrades and new rig construction. Qualifications and Required Skills: Journeyperson certified in electrical or electronics; Must have minimum 2-4 years VFD related experience; Must have AC Drive and PLC knowledge or training; Generator controls knowledge will be considered an asset; Minimum 3-5 years related experience; Valid Driver’s License; Possess a valid Standard First Aid and H2S ticket; Experience in related Oilfield position will be considered an asset; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Willingness to learn and develop; An aptitude for problem solving and planning; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships High level of attention to detail Ability to work at heights Must be available for varying shifts and to travel to remote locations Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure We thank all applicants for their interest in the position, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
