As a member of the Electrification Distribution Solutions engineering team, you will work on projects to provide to customers in the DC Wayside industry customers with high quality equipment, in order to power up their electrical systems via MV/LV and DC Equipments. You will be the technical support for all design activities (both in-house and outsourced) related to the integration of different equipments both for AC and DC applications as well as their sub-systems equipment, related to engineering projects mainly in North America, under the Electrification division, Distribution Solutions unit. Reporting to the Engineering manager, ensuring that design activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed in accordance with customer expectations, contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements. Your responsibilities Collaborating with Senior Project Engineers, Project Managers and Operations staff to deliver designs in a timely manner with high-quality deliverables that meet customer expectations. Supporting project engineers in the creation of customized designs with a focus on identification and control of hazards and optimizing designs to meet updated standards, while incorporating new products, components, and functionalities. Providing technical solutions for Direct Current industrial equipment in accordance with customer specifications and applicable standards. Contributing to design reviews and verification following established QA/QC process, providing feedback on design aspects, and making necessary modifications. Producing documentation related to substation equipment’s (operation and maintenance manuals, test procedures, training documentation). Resolving technical issues both remotely and on domestic customer sites. Travel requirement should be up to 25% of the workload, mainly to be present for laboratory tests and site installation. Overseeing the creation of subcontracts and assisting Supply Chain in the management of subcontractors. Your background A technical degree in electrical industrial design or a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Experience with AC to DC power conversion or power electronics is an advantage. Ability to read, understand and communicate in both French and English. Knowledge of Direct Current Equipment i.e. Diode rectifiers, Low voltage DC Breakers, an asset. SAP Software solution knowledge and experience, an asset Current class 5 driving license valid in Canada and Canadian work permit. Strong commitment to safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines. A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies. PLC or Relay programming is an asset.
