Company perks: -Spending time with animals each day -Flexible schedule -Great exercise Job description Dog Walker Duties & Responsibilities: -Provide exercise for clients' dogs (usually in half-hour or one-hour increments). -Pick up and dispose of dog droppings during walks. -Check dogs' food and water supply to make sure basic needs are met after walks and during. -Notify owners and pursue veterinary attention for any dog that becomes sick or injured under their supervision. -Clean paws, or body if wet or dirty as needed at the end of the walk. Education, Training: -Education: No formal education or certification is required to be a dog walker. -Experience: Experience working with dogs is necessary for this job. A dog walker must be very familiar with canine behavior, basic care, and first aid Dog Walker Skills & Competencies: -Compassion: You must always treat the dogs you walk with care, kindness, and respect. -Patience: This is key to working with animals—especially when you're first becoming familiar with each other. -Customer-service skills: You must keep your clients satisfied if you want them to book you for recurring walks. -Reliability: Clients must be able to count on you to show up on time for walks. If you become sick and are unable to work you must give us as much notice as possible so we can fill or cover that time. -Physical strength and stamina: You must be able to handle larger dogs if needed, and keep control of a leash if a dog pulls. You must also be able to be on your feet and walk for at least 60 minutes at a time. Must be able to handle 120 pound dogs. Work Environment Dog walkers do most of their work outside and must be prepared to face any weather condition. They also spend most of their time working on their feet. Dog walkers must be willing to pick up and dispose of dog droppings during walks. Work Schedule Dog walker needed on a part-time basis. Average work days are between 10am-4pm weekdays. Some days may consist of a walk from 6pm-6:30pm Monday to Thursday. Potential to earn additional income by boarding animals. (This is optional & as needed) -Must be able to work from 10am-4pm, Break then 6-6:30pm ( Times vary each day ) -Must live in Oakville ( or very close ) -Must have their own car to go to and from clients houses. -Must be able to Transport dogs in your own car if needed. Part-time hours: 7-20 per week (May Vary) Interviews will happen in February 2024, followed by in person second interviews in early March and Training/ Meeting the dogs by March 11. Preferably looking for someone who is either retired and wants to enjoy the outdoors with the pups / someone looking for a part time job in the summer-into January or February of 2025. This job is Part time but has the ability to make full time wages. Must understand their schedule can change week to week and day to day. Summers are slower but tend to pick up in the winter. This is a 8-9 month commitment but has the ability to potentially go longer or full time.
