Permanent Part Time
Location: Happy Valley-Goose Bay
Reporting to Food Operations Manager, the primary purpose of this position is general duty cooking and baking work performed in an institutional kitchen serving acute and long-term care clients as well as cafeteria service. Preparation, cooking and distribution of regular and therapeutic diet foods are the main tasks involved.
Qualifications
" High school diploma or equivalency;
" Cooking certificate;
" Basic Food Safety training certification or ability to complete same
" Experience in therapeutic diet preparation would be an asset;
" Ability to work alone and under minimum supervision;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Prepares, cooks and serves various foods which include breakfast items, main meal entrees, vegetables, soups, gravies, desserts and may include wild meats, game and fresh fish for acute and long term care clients;
" Prepares main course items and special menu items for cafeteria service;
" Prepares and cooks therapeutic diet foods as well as texture modified foods;
" Bakes items such as breads, buns, muffins, pastries, cakes and cookies;
" Maintains sanitary conditions in work areas;
" Maintain high standard of personal hygiene and follow all departmental policies/procedures pertaining to food safety and situations;
" Responsible for receiving and storage of food and related supplies as required;
" Insures food amounts and ingredients are available for each cooking task;
" Operates and cleans a variety of standard cooking equipment;
" Responsible for keeping accurate records of temperatures, food preference lists and meal day statistics;
" Other duties as required.
Salary
" CG-25 of the NAPE HS salary scales $23.31 to $25.68 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.
Hours Of Work
" 22.5 hours Bi-weekly; variable shifts.
