Job Description
Mountain View Retirement Centre is looking to hire a qualified Kitchen Manager in Corner Brook, NL!
The Kitchen Manager will lead a motivated team devoted to providing residents with nutritious and appetizing meals that cater to their individual dietary needs. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen and dining staff, as well as for managing budget and client experience.
What You Will Be Doing:
- The preparation, cooking and presentation of food for residents
- Teaching, coaching, and mentoring cooking staff
- Managing dietary team
- Dietary schedule prepared bi-weekly keeping within the staffing budget
- Establishing and monitoring workflow, evaluating performance and production, and making changes as necessary to improve quality of service
- Prepares or monitors the preparation of service daily and special event menu plans to ensure individual resident dietary needs are met
- Ensures modified diets, textures are met, and allergies are communicated and posted
- Sourcing and ordering products from suppliers while operating within budgetary requirements
- Monitoring food costs to ensure within the PRD parameters
- Ensure all HAACP requirements are met and documented
- Ensure all food safety requirements are met and documented
- Ensure all inspection requirements are met and documented
- Consult with Exec. Chef about equipment needs and capital expense needs
- Have equipment maintained and repairs as needed
- Hold monthly resident food council meetings for input
- Prepare month end reports and submit to the Exec. Chef on time
- Other duties as required
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience in a volume food preparation environment in the healthcare or in the hospitality industry and working knowledge of special diets and dietary restrictions
- Relevant degree or diploma
- Ability to relate to all levels of staff, the residents and their families, and
- other professionals with a high degree of patience and tolerance
- Strong communication skills; both oral and written
- Initiative, good judgment and supervisory abilities
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors and
- ability to treat residents with an abundance of respect, dignity, and care
- Ability to adhere to a budget while providing best in class meals to residents and guests

- Salary range: $45,000-55,000
