This support role will provide all applicable funding options to the farmer or agri-business and complete their applications to ensure the project is successful, thus enabling more solar energy on farms across the province. This is a Nova Scotia-based role.This "navigator" role will quickly become familiar with all applicable funding sources and application processes to assist the customer with their projects. This can include connecting farmers or agri-businesses with farm operations contractors, comparing quotes and warranties, modeling the systems to validate energy savings, performing Measurement and verification (M&V), and verifying the project with site visits. This role will rely heavily on connecting customers with the right people and having the right network to do so. Technical knowledge of energy usage in agriculture settings is an asset. Experience with writing grant funding applications is also an asset.The successful candidate will apply for incentives and write grant funding applications for solar and other renewable energy projects for farms and other agri-businesses as defined by the Department of Agriculture, as well as for aquaculture operations.Scope of workThe following tasks will be considered within the scope of the position:Effective Communication Write grant and funding applications on behalf of the customer.Become an SME on all funding programs and their application processes.Develop a network of farm operator contractors and solar providers.Engineering Analysis and ResearchModel distributed energy systems in energy modeling software. Calculate energy and cost savings.Perform and report on M&V.Research and document all funding sources eligible for agriculture and aquaculture customers.Project Coordination.Create and manage a work plan and track project milestones and reporting.Time management with applicants and contractors.Support the other Agriculture OEMs where needed with administrative and technical tasks.Working conditionsWork predominantly within an office environment with Flex Work Arrangements available.Driver's license required: This role will require travel to client sites throughout Nova Scotia. The frequency of travel will vary based on collaboration requirements that may change at the discretion of the energy manager and/or clients as needed to meet role objectives.Appropriate PPE will be provided.Other Duties That May Be Required IncludeCreate and present internal and external reports and presentations.Manage issues that may arise in projects, such as delays and funding application deadlines.Supporting other agriculture team members as required.What Will Help You Succeed?A bachelor's degree, Engineering Technologist Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.Experience in writing and submitting grant applications to all levels of government would be considered an asset.The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and time management skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.Experience in the agriculture sector and/or renewable energy sector would be considered an asset.Experience with energy modeling software.Designation as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP), and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) would be considered an asset.Proficient with all Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. EM service manual, business program manuals, protocols on measurement and verification, energy auditing guidelines, example reports from Senior Energy Managers, and examples of other organizations' energy management plans. Ensuring you are familiar with both technical resources and reference material is critical to executing your short-term plan on-site.In The First Month, Expect ToBecome familiar with the people and organizations within the participant organizations. Organizational awareness includes understanding people who influence projects are familiar with the facilities and the processes i.e., procurement, budget planning, etc.Meet with Efficiency NS Program Managers to get a better understanding of project incentives and program processes.Meet with Senior EMs to bounce ideas around on strategies and tactics that will increase your influence and impact on the account organization; andMeet with the consultant network to explore their services that could be beneficial for your account.In The First Three Months, Expect ToEstablish monitoring, tracking, and reporting for your account. Critical for Efficiency NS and for creating visibility within your accounts.Create business cases for projects working with contractors, consultants, and account staff.Build a master list of energy efficiency measures; andDevelop a framework for your account's Energy Management Plan which is a living document.
