Job Description
Traditional Archery Instructor
We are looking for a passionate and experienced traditional archery instructor to join our team and teach our students the art and skill of archery. You will be responsible for planning and leading archery sessions, using various types of bows and arrows, such as recurve, longbow, compound, and crossbow. You will also be knowledgeable about Kyudo archery, the Japanese martial art of archery, and be able to introduce its history, philosophy, and techniques to our students.
To be successful as a traditional archery instructor, you should have excellent archery and teaching skills, a good understanding of archery equipment and safety, and a respect for the traditions and values of archery. You should also be able to work well with students of different ages, levels, and backgrounds, and inspire them to enjoy and improve their archery skills.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead archery sessions for the students, according to their goals, interests, and abilities
- Teach various types of bows and arrows, such as recurve, longbow, compound, and crossbow, and how to use them properly and safely
- Teach Kyudo archery, the Japanese martial art of archery, and its history, philosophy, and techniques
- Demonstrate and explain the correct form, posture, stance, grip, draw, release, and follow-through of archery
- Provide feedback and guidance to the students, and help them correct their mistakes and improve their skills
- Monitor and evaluate the students’ progress and performance, and keep records of their attendance and achievements
- Maintain and care for the archery equipment and facilities, and ensure they are in good condition and comply with the safety standards
- Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in archery, and attend training and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a traditional archery instructor, coach, or similar role, or relevant education or training
- Proficient in various types of bows and arrows, such as recurve, longbow, compound, and crossbow
- Knowledgeable about Kyudo archery, the Japanese martial art of archery, and its history, philosophy, and techniques
- Excellent archery and teaching skills, and a keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Passionate and respectful about the traditions and values of Kyudo archery
- Ability to work well with students of different ages, levels, and backgrounds, and inspire them to enjoy and improve their archery skills
- First aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
- Criminal record check, or willingness to obtain
Job Types: Permanent, Fixed term contract
Salary: $30.00 per hour
