Workforce Development Program Manager

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Workforce Development Manager (WDM) manages a program area ensuring the delivery of quality, seamless services that result in optimum outcomes for participants. Monitors individual staff performance, builds a cohesive, focused program team, maintains high quality participant services and makes contacts as needed to maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Is accountable for the assigned program’s results and ensures that the program’s financial performance meets budgetary goals.

 

Day in the life: In a typical day, a Workforce Development Manager (WDM) can expect to...

  • Staff Supervision: Provides direct supervision to assigned staff and engages, motivates and inspires them to achieve desired results. Is responsible for the oversight of the program team.
  • Program Development and Quality Assurance: Responsible for the overall excellence and success of their assigned program.
  • Team Development: Builds a cohesive, focused program team by providing consistent direction, support and encouragement to achieve desired program results.
  • Financial Management: Supports the Director in managing the budget and resources for assigned program using approved financial guidelines and accepted practices, policies and procedures. Financial decisions are made in consultation with the Director based on factual information, proactive planning and the best interests of the division and larger organization.

 

Job Pay & Perks:

  • Typical starting pay range: 67,000-$70,000

About You:

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  •  Demonstrated knowledge of management, supervision and training practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social service systems and supports: WIA, school systems, MFIP, MA, SNAP, Housing Supports, and other related systems and supports.
  • Familiarity with grant process, nonprofit funding sources and what quality services and programs look like for people with disabilities and disadvantages.
  • Ability to manage training and mentoring of staff.
  • Experience with financial management.
  • Desire and ability to effect change.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of effective service intervention strategies and techniques in program area.

 

Prior Experience & Education:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
